Programs Supported Employment is a community-based alternate for individuals who have moderate to sever disabilities. The Supported Employment Program generally serves the same population as the Day Training Program but tries to normalize working conditions by placing people in community job sites that integrate them into the general population. The Supported Employment Program differs from regular employment because a job coach provides long-term support. EII currently offers two supported employment models; an enclave model and an individual placement model. Enclaves are community work teams that involve a maximum of eight trainees and a job coach. This work team is stationed within a regular business or industry and works along side others doing the same work. Access to work is in the same manner as other employees within the company and our trainees receive comparable wages. Individual Placement is a placement of a trainee in a regular job that is completely integrated with non-disabled workers. The trainee is initially provided a full-time job coach who fades out as the trainee becomes more independent in completing the job tasks. Routine follow up is then required of the job coach in order to maintain the trainee's level of performance. Trainees in individual placements get the same wages and benefits as other employees and are paid directly by the employer. |
